If you’re a teen of the 80s, like me, you probably couldn’t help but think of this song when you saw the title. Actually, i’m talking about the hook up Jupiter has with the Sun in Gemini. This “hook-up” we astro-folks call a conjunction. Then, next week, Jupiter glides into Cancer, which is like a home away from home for him. In Gemini, though, Jupiter loves to promise a lot more than he can deliver. I know one famous astrologer has proclaimed this one of the luckiest days of the year (because of the conjunction.) So far I’ve been lucky enough to catch an hour more of sleep than I usually do. But yesterday was pretty lucky. I got my 1000 sq ft. apt cleaned for $40, and let’s just say it was 2+ hours. The job took longer than anyone expected, but it got done and all for a really, really great price.
Overall though, it’s not been extraordinary. But this week, in the shadow of a Mercury Retrograde and a full moon, it’s important to make careful assessments of your expectations. Or don’t get too carried away with what you want to happen or should happen. I always say that Jupiter is not a clear or consistent “manifestor” as far as planets go. I’ve lost track of the number of times that people think GREAT things will happen because Jupiter crosses the midheaven, goes into their “house” of money and finances, or the 7th “house” of relationships. Hell, I used to get carried away too. And then I saw nothing would happen, or nothing THAT big.
Eventually I realized that Jupiter, the guru, is sometimes a quieter teacher than we give him credit for. In Gemini, he’s teaching more from his cosmic post-it notes and scraps of paper. He doesn’t have access to his library (as he would in Sagittarius, the opposite to Gemini.) So he can’t give the big lessons, the “big” blessings, but he can still leave us with good little tidbits if we’re paying attention, if we’re patient. This week isn’t that big on astrological events for most of the week, but that’s usually a time to chew and prepare to swallow what you’ve been chewing. It’s time to appreciate the blessings you have right in front of you. They may not be GRANDE. They may not be all that you’ve been hoping for. But their yours and life is oh so much better (and cleaner) with them.

Here’s some horoscopes to boot! (We had more glitches, but we beat them down again. Kudos to the great staff at ebony.com for staying on top of things there, especially Genese and Melanie. Thank you.)
